Their lifes matter!
Este é talvez o post que nunca pensei em escrever. Ou pelo menos, nunca pensei ter a necessidade de o escrever, tendo em conta que estamos no século XXI e que somos considerados "Homo sapiens sapiens". Tinha até outro post preparado para publicar, mas esse vai ter que ser adiado, por causa deste assunto que, de momento, é mais importante de ser falado.
Malta, esta frase da imagem é verdade e, claramente eu não sou indiferente, muito pelo contrário: eu tenho uma opinião acerca dos acontecimentos da última semana e espero que leiam tudo com atenção, para que fiquem a perceber tudo o que eu quero dizer com este post.
Primeiro, tal como disse, nunca pensei em ter que escrever um post acerca deste assunto em particular, uma vez que estamos no século XXI e já devíamos ser evoluídos e racionais o suficiente para ter, pelo menos, dois dedos de testa e pensarmos com as nossas próprias cabecinhas. Nós não somos nenhuns Neandertais para andar para aí a fazer coisas que são só estúpidas ou que não fazem sentido nenhum. O que leva a dois pontos da história da última semana:
1. George Floyd foi morto sob a guarda da Polícia. Sim, eu vi as imagens e sim, estou de acordo com a opinião de que, de facto, foi homicídio e que não devia ter acontecido, uma vez que, ao contrário do que os autores do crime dizem, ele não resistiu à Polícia (e mesmo que tivesse resistido, nada justifica um homicídio). Mas há também aqui algumas coisas para falar.
a. Sim, racismo é algo que já devia ter sido extinto há muitos séculos atrás e que nunca devia sequer ter começado. George Floyd foi alvo de racismo? Sim, foi, caso contrário ele estaria vivo. Devemos protestar contra o racismo e fazer as pessoas ver que pessoas Negras são tão importantes quanto as brancas? CLARAMENTE QUE SIM!
b. Mas o que é que matou de facto George Floyd? O racismo, ou o abuso de autoridade por parte do Polícia? OS DOIS! Qual é a diferença entre esta situação e uma situação semelhante, mas com um branco? É que se fosse com um branco, a Polícia apenas seria condenada por abuso de poder.
Ora, o que é que é estúpido aqui?
O estúpido é simplesmente que mesmo que ele estivesse a mentir acerca da falta de ar, tal como um dos agentes disse a alguém que filmou o caso, a obrigação dos agentes seria simplesmente libertá-lo. (Lá está, ter dois dedos de testa e pensar antes de agir era bom, não era?)
Por outro lado, é só estúpido, o facto de terem gravado em vez de terem feito alguma coisa NA HORA! *Agora que ele morreu, não o podem ressuscitar, a missão de quem gravou era apenas impedir de o matarem, algo que não fizeram*
Pronto, isto é em relação ao ponto 1, agora, ponto 2:
2. Protestos contra o racismo. 100% de acordo, sem dúvida alguma. Devemos fazer algo? SIM, DEVEMOS! Em que é que pessoas negras diferem das brancas? Apenas na quantidade de melanina que produzem e um ou outro fator genético. Isso é motivo de racismo? NÃO!
Mas agora...
O que é que pilhar e destruir lojas está relacionado com esta situação toda? Estão a protestar contra o comércio e a economia, ou contra o racismo? Malta, há muita forma de protestar e ajudar, mas penso que o estejam de momento, a fazer de forma errada, por várias razões:
a. Pensem ao contrário. Pessoas negras precisam do comércio e da economia para se sustentar (a nível financeiro e mesmo para se alimentarem). Porque é que estão a destruir e pilhar lojas? Já pensaram se estiverem a destruir a loja de algum deles? Ou de algum familiar deles?
b. Estão a dar muita importância aos racistas.
CALMA! Deixem-me explicar!!!
No outro dia, o Cónego daqui da paróquia, disse que muitas vezes o "ódio" vem da opressão. Ora, em que é que estão relacionados? É fácil! Se vocês disserem que não gostam de racistas e que o racismo não devia existir, mais os racistas vão agir. ("O fruto proibido é o mais apetecido") Por outro lado, se vocês meterem a mão nas vossas consciências, vão perceber o que eu vou dizer agora:
O que é que um racista quer?
Resposta: Atenção.
O que é que temos que fazer para que eles deixem de existir?
Resposta: Não lhes dar o que querem (Atenção).
Resposta: Não lhes dar o que querem (Atenção).
O que é que uma pessoa negra precisa?
Resposta: De alguém que os compreenda e que lhes dê a mão, como forma de não se sentirem sozinhos e se sentirem apoiados.
O que é que uma pessoa negra não precisa?
Resposta: Racistas, lojas pilhadas e destruídas...
O que eu quero dizer com tudo isto não é que não se deve protestar. Pelo contrário. Podemos sim protestar e eu estou 100% de acordo com protestar contra o racismo! Mas há formas melhores de protestar contra esta infantilidade que é o racismo e nos tornarmos mais inteligentes do que os racistas. Porque isso é o que nos distingue neste caso em concreto: a inteligência. E acho que todos concordamos que o racismo é um ato de infantilidade e que, como tal, devemos parar com ele e sermos inteligentes.
O desafio que lanço ao mundo é simples:
Somos humanos. Animais racionais, temos a capacidade de pensar e de agir conscientemente.
Ponham a mão nas vossas consciências. Ponham-se no lugar de George Floyd. Se vocês fossem ele, o que gostariam que acontecesse em sua honra? Que mudanças acham que ele iria querer que acontecessem no mundo? Como é que acham que ele iria querer que o racismo terminasse?
Agora, olhem à vossa volta. Olhem para o racismo. Olhem para os racistas, fixem as suas caras, enquanto praticam racismo sobre outras pessoas. Depois, olhem para quem está a sofrer de racismo.
Nessa situação, aproximem-se calmamente. Dêem a mão a quem está a sofrer de racismo e tirem-na daquele local.
Quando estiverem num lugar mais seguro, limpem-lhe as lágrimas, as feridas, confortem essa pessoa, abracem-na. Falem com essa pessoa e façam-na ver que, não importa se é uma pessoa negra, que a pessoa que a fez chorar não é importante. Façam-na perceber que, não importa a idade, a cor, o país de origem... Façam-na perceber que o importante é o sorriso, a alegria, o amor entre as pessoas, façam-na perceber a sua importância no mundo!
Podem até, quem sabe, iniciar aí uma boa amizade. Afinal, "as pessoas só têm medo do que não conhecem" e é isso que é o racismo: o medo do desconhecido.
É estranhamente irónico eu, sendo Portuguesa, estar a falar disto desta forma. Afinal, com a descoberta do Brasil e a descoberta do caminho marítimo para a Índia, (entre outras), pessoas negras foram injustamente tornadas escravas e com isso o racismo começou... E pode até parecer anti-patriota, mas quem descobriu quem? Portugal descobriu o Brasil, ou Brasil descobriu Portugal?
Pensem duas vezes antes de agir. Ponham-se no lugar das outras pessoas. Sei que não é fácil, mas tentem, ou então perguntem-se "será que gostaria que isso me acontecesse"?
Por agora é tudo!
This is perhaps the post I never thought to write. Or at least, I never thought I needed to write it, considering that we are in the 21st century and that we are considered "Homo sapiens sapiens". There was even another post prepared to publish, but this one will have to be postponed, because of this subject that, at the moment, is more important to be talked about.
Guys, this sentence in the image is true and, clearly, I am not indifferent, quite the contrary: I have an opinion about the events of the past week and I hope you read everything carefully, so that you can understand everything I mean by this post.
First, as I said, I never thought about having to write a post about this particular subject, since we are in the 21st century and we should be evolved and rational enough to have at least two fingers on our foreheads and think with our own little heads. We are not Neanderthals to walk around doing things that are just stupid or that make no sense at all. Which leads me to two points in the story of the past week:
1. George Floyd was killed under police custody. Yes, I saw the images and yes, I agree with the opinion that, in fact, it was homicide and that it should not have happened, since, contrary to what the perpetrators of the crime say, he did not resist the police (and even if he resisted, nothing justifies a homicide). But there are also a few things to talk about here.
a. Yes, racism is something that should have been extinguished many centuries ago and that should never have even started. Was George Floyd a target of racism? Yes, it was, otherwise he would be alive. Should we protest against racism and make people see that black people are just as important as white people? CLEARLY THAT YES!
b. But what really killed George Floyd? Racism, or the abuse of authority by the police? BOTH! What is the difference between this situation and a similar situation, but with a white guy? It is that if it were with a white man, the Police would only be condemned for abuse of power.
Now, what is stupid here?
The stupid thing is simply that even if he was lying about the air lacking, just as one of the agents told someone who filmed the case, the agents' obligation would simply be to release him. (There it is, having two forehead fingers and thinking before acting was good, wasn't it?)
On the other hand, it's just stupid, the fact that they recorded instead of doing something ON TIME! *Now that he died, they can't resurrect him, the mission of the recorder was just to prevent him from being killed, something he didn't do*
Okay, this is in relation to point 1, now point 2:
2. Protests against racism. 100% in agreement, without a doubt. Should we do something? YES, WE MUST! How do black people differ from white people? Only in the amount of melanin they produce and one or another genetic factor. Is that a cause for racism? NO!
But now...
What is it that looting and destroying stores is related to this whole situation? Are you protesting against trade and the economy, or against racism? Guys, there is a lot of way to protest and help, but I think people are right now doing it wrong, for several reasons:
a. Think backwards: black people need trade and the economy to support themselves (financially and even to feed themselves). Why are people destroying and looting stores? Have you thought about whether you are destroying any of their stores? Or any store of their family members?
b. You are giving a lot of importance to racists.
CALM DOWN! Let me explain !!!
The other day, the Canon from the parish said that "hatred" often comes from oppression. Now, what are they related to? Is easy! If you say that you don't like racists and that racism shouldn't exist, more racists will act. ("The forbidden fruit is the most desirable") On the other hand, if you put your hand on your consciences, you will understand what I am going to say now:
What does a racist want?
Answer: Attention.
What do we have to do to make them cease to exist?
Answer: Do not give them what they want (Attention).
What does a black person need?
Answer: Someone who understands them and gives them a hand, as a way of not feeling alone and feeling supported.
What does a black person not need?
Answer: Racists, shops looted and destroyed...
What I mean by all of this is not that you shouldn't protest. On the contrary. Yes, we can protest and I am 100% in agreement with protesting against racism! But there are better ways to protest against this childishness that is racism and to become more intelligent than racists. Because this is what distinguishes us in this particular case: intelligence. And I think we all agree that racism is an act of childishness and that, as such, we should stop it and be smart.
The challenge that I launch to the world is simple:
We are human. Rational animals, we have the ability to think and act consciously.
Put your hand on your consciences. Put yourself in George Floyd's place. If you were him, what would you like to happen in your honor? What change do you think he would want to happen in the world? How do you think he would want racism to end?
Now, look around you. Look at racism. Look at the racists, fix their faces, while practicing racism on other people. Then look at who is suffering from racism.
In that situation, approach calmly. Take the hand of those who are suffering from racism and get it out of that place.
When you are in a safer place, cleanse his tears, wounds, comfort that person, embrace him. Talk to that person and let him see that it doesn't matter if you are a black person, that the person who made him cry is not important. Make him realize that, no matter his age, color, country... Make him realize that the important thing is the smile, the joy, the love between people, make him realize his importance in the world!
You may even, who knows, start a good friendship there. After all, "people are only afraid of what they don't know" and that is what racism is: the fear of the unknown.
It is strangely ironic that I, being Portuguese, are talking about it this way. After all, with the discovery of Brazil and the discovery of the sea route to India, (among others), black people were unfairly made slaves and with that racism started... And it may even seem anti-patriotic, but who found out who? Portugal discovered Brazil, or did Brazil discover Portugal?
Think twice before you act. Put yourself in other people's shoes. I know it's not easy, but try, or ask yourself "would I like that to happen to me"?
For now, it's everything!

Por vezes, sinto que quanto mais evoluídos aparentamos ser, mais desumanos nos tornamos. E toda esta situação é repugnante. É lamentável. É... até me faltam as palavras, porque não faz sentido. Não vivemos para isto. Não podemos querer viver neste caos, em que a cor de pele ainda é uma fonte de discriminação
ResponderEliminarSim, 100% de acordo, porém, há formas melhores de protestar e de reverter esta situação, que passa principalmente por não dar atenção a quem o faz e dar a mão a quem sofre, de forma a que se sintam apoiados.
EliminarPior foi mesmo o que o polícia fez, mas ainda pior são aqueles que, no alto da sua posição privilegiada, ignoram o problema :(.
